Hi,

Is the Sports Light switch , just above the radio, standard on the Mach 1 and can anyone tell me how the switch operates? My switch seems to only have an off and on position but has three wires attached (well previously attached).

When the switch is on i assume the two lights should be on but what about when the switch is off? I cannot see what the third wire is for as it appears not to go to the lights.

Any ideas welcome

Got a question about oil pressure. When I start up the car, the oil pressure reading on the gauge is fine. (needle goes up to about 3/4 between low and high) Once the engine warms up (about 15 minutes into a drive) the needle slowly starts dropping down to low (like, 0) which takes about 10-15 minutes. So in a 30 minute period driving, I lose my oil pressure. In the research I've done I've heard of everything from new sending unit to thicker oil to new oil filter to bad bearings. Has anyone ...

Now, I'm trying to get the engine compartment back to as original as possible. Does anyone have a picture of the bracket and attachment for the solenoid? I'd also be interested in a picture or description of how and where the wiring goes to activate the soleniod. Are there any sources for the bracket or solenoid?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I never had the tach hooked up to the distributor with points, so I am not sure what my problem is. Sometimes it appears to be working correctly up to about 2,500 rpms and other times it just doesn't work. I am not sure if I have a wiring problem or if it is something I need to change to match the new electronics in the distributor. Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated.

I have one main grounding lead from the battery directly to the engine but also one thinner wire that appears to be for earthing the body. Both wires are connected together at the battery.

Is there anywhere in particular the thinner wire should connect?

Hello to all, I finally got my hands some cladding for my car and have a problem. I guess there are 2-3 part numbers for the front fender cladding and I have one of each type. One of the the letters/number are held in by little rivets and allows you to buy the repo kit to put new letters and number on. The other one looks like it's one piece and I don't want to mess it up. Does anyone know how to re-do those types? Or am I stuck with just paint it one color.

Well I recently had some fun in replacing a door hinge and installing a bush and pin set in another. Much fun as anyone who has done it before would know

Anyway, thought I would share the pics of the method used to adjust the hinges, a ratchet and socket with a swivel can carefully be placed between the door and guard - but you probably want a friend to assist so save your paint.

It seems that the belt fits in the alt properly, but sits to deep in the bottom pulley??

Hello again, Another interesting problem. I bought seat tracks on EBAY months ago. Cleaned them up etc, and then put away. Finally got seat covers for the seats I also go on ebay. Problem is when I went to mount the seat tracks they are short. The seat tracks measure 11 1/2 inches from center mounting hole to center where they bolt to the seat. What is wrong here? I think the 70 Mach 1 seat tracks are 11 1/2 inches, so does anyone know what year of seat I might have? The covers were extremely ...

I put a Petronix II box in the distributor and have the correct Petronix coil for the unit. During the break-in stage I have been starting the engine at the solenoid (jumping with a screwdriver) and running a wire from the distributor to the battery. I have been told that I have to replace a resisted wire to run the Petronix on a 1970 Mustang. Is this true? If so where is the wire located and what is the factory color code?

BTW: the engine runs great, but it sure would be nice to be ...

HI guys,

I have some slack in my steering ( I know - very typical) and have rebuilt the power steering ram etc with new seals etc. My question is whether you know if the adjusting screw on top of the steering box can be used to minimse slack in th esteering box or if I would cause bigger problems adjudting this. I inderstand it is for the lash adjustment but not sure exactly what it impacts. Any mechanics on the forum?

Hi folks,

Question...not a gear head (just enough to get me in trouble and cost me more money than it should).....so please be kind!!

Since the rear diff was changed out by the previous owner, the speedometer is not accurate at all. It runs 10-15 mph higher than it should. Luckily GPS's are out that can help. However, I'd like to get it at least close, if possible. Any ideas on how this can be fixed? Can linkage be changed to accommodate? I'm hearing that you cannot get it accurate. ...

Hi, this may seem like an amatuer question but is there supposed to be carpet up behind the back seats on the package tray? My back seat does not fold down. I ask because there is some there now with some aftermarket speakers mounted on each side but I have a feeling a previous owner did this. There's a lot of weird stuff thats not original in my car...

Thanks for any info.
