PostSubject: 1970 Mach 1 M code value   Wed 20 May - 17:25

Hello, I am looking at a 70 Mach 1 M code, grabber(or hugger?) orange with shaker, appears to be the original 351 Cleveland motor (D0 block with C9 heads) and fmx auto, white interior, A/C. I really was not in the market for this, but it is for sale at $5,000 and I feel that maybe this is to good to pass up. The catch is that it is in terrible condition. Terrible meaning that there is considerable rust in both quarters, trunk dropoffs, floor boards, and doors. I realize that all of these parts are available as reproduction parts, but will this lower the value of the car when it is finished? Appears to be pretty complete ( not on the car but in boxes) complete interior, all glass, shaker, etc.

Owner has MartiAuto report...VIN matches on dash and inner apron sheetmetal.
Is this a steal at $5k? Should I jump on it? I would also have to ship it back to the states... another $1,400...

thanks for any advice

Depends on two things:

1. How great are your mechanical skills?

2. If not, how deep are your pockets?

Hello, The shaker assemblies alone are going for $950-$1200 on EBAY. I would say jump on it and if your not in a rush all the stuff you mentioned is available in original sheet metal for more money, but worth it.

thanks for the input. I'm not to bad on the restoration part of it, this would be my third early model mustang. I am wondering if that $5k would be better spent on another mustang. Can you find a mach 1 like this in the states at this price? I have been out of the country for a couple years.

Prices for a 1970 Mach 1 M-code/shaker with some work are at least double that, if not triple.
So it looks like a real steal.
Look if most Mach1 details are there, like the Rocker panels, grille.
