question....about to pull the trigger on a fastback 1970, it "could" be a Mach I????

I could not find the serial in it's appropriate place....and the data tag was faded. I looked at both aprons.....
Any suggestions finding the serial for this car?

Second question, any way to get this car legal if it has been removed?

Did you check the VIN tag LH bottom corner of windscreen? Also check for the body buck tags. Depending on the originality of the car, and how lucky you are, if the carpet has not been replaced you may find original Ford assembly line documents hidden under the carpet underlay. If all these are gone could be anything. Good luck.

thanks checked the tag at the windscreen, body tag is faded. carpet may in fact be original...I'll give it a shot. I did learn the 70 has the stamp under the fender (which I did not expect).

By memory the stamp under the fender is only the build number of the car Eg. 125XXX. This will not help you with the info you require. Also the Ford docs I mentioned were also tucked inside seat springs, and hidden behind the dash. You may also be lucky to find the Ford Assembly Inspection Card. Good luck

Okay, seems the earlier models had the full serial stamped on the apron. But I've never owned anything later than a 67.
I'm hoping those doc's are tucked away.
