Black 1970 Mach 1

Recently purchased 1970 Mach 1 that is Black on Black. On the original photos before repaint the car had Gold stripes on hood and the rear deck by the Mach 1 lettering. Is this the proper color for the stripping or is it a Hertz Mustang ? I do not know if Hertz had a 1970 mustang . If any one can let me know or give some clues it would be appreciated. Originally the stripes would have been bloack or white only. Check your Marti Report, it will tell you which it would have had originally.

Thanks so much for everyones replies. I just received the Marti report on the Black on Black Mach 1. It was originally ordered with black stripping as was said. It does clear up some unanswered questions.

There were only 365 triple black 1970 mach 1's made. Hard to believe that black was not as popular then as today.

365 is 0.8908957773980961 % of 40,970 - so less than 1% of all 1970 mach 1's were triple black, though many were painted black instead of their original colors.

I had heard once that Ford didn't exactly encourage this color combination, though it could be ordered.
