Repairing Original clock Empty
PostSubject: Repairing Original clock   Repairing Original clock EmptyTue 15 Jun - 1:00

My movement mechanism was pretty shot and a couple of the cogs were missing teeth. I saw a post on the VMF site that said others cars like Galaxie had identical movement and I confirmed this on a site that sold spares for the clocks. I purchased a NOS 1970 Galaxie clock on ebay and shipped it here-. Australia
After much fiddling around with the small parts, I managed to interchange the movements and also a couple of the plastic cogs (which don't come with the replacement movements you can purchase) and now I have a great working original clock.
The Galaxie clocks sell much cheaper than the mustang ones you see and as mentinoed , you can use a number of the parts so a great idea if you want to restore your clock rather than replace with a quartz mechanism.
Also have a NOS Galaxie clock housing spare Very Happy

Good information Smile Mine seems to work great as long as I am moving. Thought about having it repaired but I can't see it when I am driving anyways LOL

yeah, definitely not for the driver!. I took mine in to a jeweller initially and he said usually it is dust and dirt that causes problems but mine had broken cogs so you may just need to pull it out and get it cleaned. They are sensitive so if you have fat fingers like me then be careful!

Kinda guessing you are correct about the dirt. Seems the more bumps I hit the better the clock works hahaha. Maybe someday I will pull it out and see whats up with it.

Repairing Original clock Empty
PostSubject: Re: Repairing Original clock   Repairing Original clock EmptyFri 27 Aug - 11:48

I'm looking for a knob for my 1970 Mach 1 clock. Clock works well, the lower time knob is in place and works, but the center knob that adjusts the green hand is gone. I saw one on ebay for $12 but that seems a bit much for a knob. Any suggestions on a good substitute or another Ford model that would have the same kind of knob?

These guys below have a perfect repro knob for about $10. They also have great clock repair or replacement service. Their service was excellent when I dealt with them.
