Newbie and need some help

I'm looking at a car marketed as a 1970 Mach 1. It's 2 states away and I've been communicating with the owner for a couple of weeks. I've asked for the VIN a couple of times and he swears it's #MVINxxxxxIND and I keep asking for an 11 alpha numeric code that I see on the decoder sites.

I want to make sure it's a Mach before I spend the time driving over there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

looks wrong. ask him for the numbers on the metal tag on the dash by the window,drivers side.
