Correct Rocker Panel Color Empty
PostSubject: Correct Rocker Panel Color   Correct Rocker Panel Color EmptyTue 10 Mar - 10:08

Hello fellow owners....New member here.

Question...I'm in the process of restoring/modifying my 1970 Mach 1. Question regarding the rocker panels. Does anyone know what the correct paint color(s) is for the rocker panels? I've seen them black, black with chrome outline and all chrome/greyish.

If anyone has the correct paint code and/or where to purchase, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Also, didn't see anything in resto tips, but can anyone help me with respect to removal and refinishing of the rocker panels and moldings? Not sure how they come off or go back on to clean them up, repaint, etc.

Appreciate the site tremendously !!!

Thanks for that information..if anyone has anything to add, please do.

How are you making out with the Rocker Panel Restoration? Were you able to find paint that can be applied with a spray gun or were you only able to find it in a spay can?

Wouldn't have guessed yours were done with a spray can....They look beautiful....How many cans did it take to re-do them?

Found the argent..made by Accumatch products. Dark Argent (#L-17500)

They actually have a pic of the Mach 1 rocker panel on the can and states that it is "Specifially made for 1970 Mach 1 Grill and Rocker Panels"

Now the real question:
Is the entire rocker panel, including emblem painted completely over with this?
Or...is there suppose to be "chrome" showing on raised edges?

I've seen it both ways. Not sure if there is a right or wrong way...maybe its just personal preference and how you want it to blend or offset your cars color?

Hi!

I dont remember the number of cans to paint my rockers panels.

If the letters is removable the lettering is shiny, but if the letterring is not removable all is dark argent.

Thanks Guys!

I think my choice is going to be all dark (the car is Grabber Orange).

Thanks for the "stolen" pic. Looks like those letters are not removable, but the owner decided to keep the letters edged in chrome.

As Ray suggested, it should be all Argent if the letters do not come off (mine do not). I'll paint them all Argent. If I want to see the other look, I could easily remove the Argent from the raised edge or paint the raised edge chrome as well.

The saga continues...............
